Cockermouth Physiotherapy

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2013, and am registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and am chartered through the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapists).

I have had a varied career in the NHS meaning I have developed specialist skills treating clients with sports and musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis and joint pain, back and neck pain, as well as other conditions such as pulmonary conditions such as COPD, neurological conditions such as Stroke and MS and falls and balance.

My mantra is ‘Giving you the tools’ which I see as our working partnership to empower you in first understanding your current pathology and where we are now, as well as the roadmap towards your recovery.

Your therapy session will begin with an in-depth discussion about the history of your condition, a chance for us to explore your story and how it is effecting you and crucially what we are aiming to get you back to.

This will be then following by a physical assessment, where we test the different tissues and structures to get to our diagnosis. We will then discuss what is going on, education being an incredibly important part of setting the scene for what we do next.

Finally we will create and start working together through your rehabilitation programme. This will look different for everybody depending on your condition and goal. It might see us head downstairs into the gym try a range of different exercises, or we might do some more gentle exercises in the clinic room. It may also involve manual therapy or soft tissue work or a combination of everything.
